----------------------------------------------------------- Universal Serial Bus (USB) ReadMe for Windows 95 November 1997 ----------------------------------------------------------- (c) Copyright Microsoft Corporation, 1997 ------------------------ HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT ------------------------ To view USB.txt on screen in Notepad, maximize the Notepad window. To print USB.txt, open it in Notepad or another word processor, then use the Print command on the File menu. ---------------------------------- DO YOU NEED TO INSTALL USB SUPPORT ---------------------------------- If your PC supports USB, the OEM most likely installed these files during the manufacturing process. You do not need to do anything. These files have been provided as a courtesy to those who have formatted their hard drive. In which case, you will want to re-install support for USB. --------------------------- HOW TO INSTALL USB SUPPORT --------------------------- In order to install Universal Serial Bus support on a PC, Windows 95 version 950B or Windows 95 version 950C must be running. This can be determined by checking the version of Windows by right clicking on "My Computer" and selecting properties. The general tab will show the Windows version. If it lists the system as 4.00.950B or 4.00.950C this product can be installed safely on your PC. NOTE: If your version of Windows is not 4.00.950B or 4.00.950C the PC will not accept the USB files and fail to install. No harm will be encountered by the system from trying to install USB support. To install this product: 1. Start Windows Explorer. 2. Click on the D: to display the contents of your CD-ROM 3. Double click on USBSUPP.EXE 4. Setup will run and you will need to reboot your system 5. Once rebooted, Double click on USBUPD2.exe 6. Setup will run and you will need to reboot your system (even though you do not get any indication that you need reboot). Note: Both of these executables need to be run in order to have a fully operational installation of USB AND a reboot must occur after each exe is run (step 4 and step 6). If you do not perform both reboots, unpredicatable results may occur. ----------------------------- HOW TO UNINSTALL THIS PRODUCT ----------------------------- 1. Once you have installed the USB Supplement, it can be uninstalled from Control Panel, Add/Remove components.
